Monsters Funday Football returns on Monday, December 8, bringing the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Los Angeles Chargers matchup to life inside the world of Monsters, Inc.. This live, animated broadcast combines NFL action with fan-favorite Pixar characters for a Monday Night Football experience unlike any other.

Every snap, run, and touchdown will be animated in real time, powered by NFL Next Gen Stats and Sony’s Beyond Sports and Hawk-Eye Innovations. Michael “Spike” Szykowny, ESPN VP of Graphics Innovation, said, “Each iteration of Funday Football has pushed the boundary of what’s possible in sports technology. By blending real-time NFL data and tracking with cutting-edge animation, we’re transforming the way fans experience an NFL game.”

Now in its third season, Monsters Funday Football will be available on ESPN2, Disney Channel, Disney XD, the ESPN App, Disney+, and NFL+. Traditional Monday Night Football coverage will also air on ESPN, ABC, and ESPN Deportes at 8 p.m. ET. International fans in more than 155 markets can watch live, with Video on Demand available shortly after.

Mike Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan join the action alongside Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. The game takes place on the Cheer Floor, a reimagined Scare Floor, complete with cheering monsters and floating bedroom doors. Roz serves as the sideline reporter, keeping a watchful eye because she “is watching, always watching!”

ESPN commentators Drew Carter and Dan Orlovsky appear as animated versions of themselves, while social media creator Katie Feeney shares updates from inside Monstropolis. Fans will also see NFL stars in prerecorded interactions, plus a halftime Cheer Canister Competition, adding extra excitement to the broadcast.

Past Funday Football editions—Toy Story and The Simpsons—have earned multiple Sports Emmys for production and design. Monsters Funday Football continues this tradition, blending animation, technology, and live sports in a way that transforms a traditional NFL game into something entirely new.

Fans can expect a Monday Night Football unlike anything they’ve seen before, fully immersed in the world of Monsters, Inc..
