On March 18, we posted “Beautiful Music from Ugly Tragedies…” where artists come together for a cause. We looked forward to what the music industry will come up in response to COVID-19. Just a few days after, despite the challenge of the enhanced community quarantine, Filipino artists banded together to sing “We Heal As One”.

We Heal As One is a revised version of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games theme song “We Win As One” composed by National Artist for Music, Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. With new lyrics by Floy Quintos, musically arrangemed by Jimmy Antiporda, and music produced by Eloisa Matias, We Heal As One features 25 of the best singers and performers from different TV networks, recording companies, and theater groups singing as one to uplift the spirits of the people.

The song’s music video directed by Frank Lloyd Mamaril piloted last Thursday. It begins with an intro by the composer dedicating the song to all Filipinos, enjoining them to unite in getting through this challenge that the world is facing. The song is a collaboration of the following voices (in order of appearance) recorded from the singers’ respective homes: Iñigo Pascual, Julie Anne San Jose, Jed Madela, Pops Fernandez, Mark Bautista, Jamie Rivera, Rita Daniela, Martin Nievera, KZ Tandingan, Aicelle Santos, Isay Alvarez, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Ogie Alcasid, Michael Williams, Robert Seña, Alden Richards, Ken Chan, Christian Bautista, Paolo Valenciano, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, Lani Misalucha, Gary Valenciano, Apl de Ap, and Lea Salonga who also sang the original version of the song “We Win As One”.

The song, says that you are not alone. Even if we are not together, we can still be as one. One in care, and one in prayer. “Together we are being called to make a future world. The test we face is for us to prove that we can heal as one.”
