“Avatar: The Way of Water,” the Oscar®-winning sequel from director James Cameron, is set to return to theaters in 3D for a special one-week engagement starting October 3 worldwide and October 1 in the Philippines.
Originally released in 2022, the film earned more than $2.3 billion globally, making it the third highest-grossing movie of all time. It received several Academy Award® nominations, including Best Picture, and won for Best Visual Effects.

The sequel picks up more than a decade after the events of the original Avatar and follows the story of the Sully family — Jake, Neytiri, and their children. The film explores their struggles to protect one another, the battles they face, and the losses they endure, all set against the backdrop of Pandora’s vast ocean landscapes.
“Avatar: The Way of Water reaches new heights and explores undiscovered depths as James Cameron returns to the world of Pandora in this emotionally packed action-adventure,” according to a release.
The film introduces new Na’vi cultures and marine creatures while continuing the themes of family, conflict, and survival.
Produced by Cameron and longtime collaborator Jon Landau, the film is a 20th Century Studios-Lightstorm Entertainment production. The cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, and Kate Winslet. Newcomers Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, and Jack Champion join the ensemble.
The screenplay is by James Cameron, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver. The story is credited to Cameron, Jaffa, Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno. David Valdes and Richard Baneham serve as executive producers.
