To celebrate the 75th year of the first Philippine stamp, Tony-winning Broadway legend and musical icon Lea Salonga has been chosen as one of the world-renowned Filipinos to be featured on commemorative stamps and postcards to be revealed by the Philippine Postal Corporation by the Manila Central Post Office on November 13, 2021 at 9 AM.

“Yup, this is for real! I’ve been chosen to be commemorated on a stamp and postcards to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first postage stamp in the Philippines! And I am in wonderful company! Huzzah!” Lea Salonga announced on Instagram.

The theater star’s Instagram post shows an image of her commemorative stamp, with a quote saying, “Focus on the work and tell the story the best way you can!”

Salonga is one of the ten Filipinos chosen in the first series of the Living Legends collection, including sports icons Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno and Efren “Bata” Reyes. Fast food mascot Jollibee is also included.

Earlier this year, she joined the likes of Andrew Garfield, Darren Criss, and Beanie Feldstein in the 74th Tony Awards, where she introduced Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winner John Legend.

Aside from getting cast as Elodie, a lead in the upcoming HBO Max series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin”, Salonga is also scheduled to play in Chicago, Las Vegas, and more cities in North America for her Dream Again Tour, beginning on April 6, 2022.
