George Clooney and Adam Sandler are joining forces in Jay Kelly, the latest film from Oscar-nominated director Noah Baumbach — and it’s coming to Netflix this December.
Baumbach, known for Marriage Story, The Meyerowitz Stories, and White Noise, co-wrote the screenplay with actor Emily Mortimer. Mortimer, who also appears in the film, previously wrote episodes of Doll & Em and The Pursuit of Love. The film is produced by David Heyman and Amy Pascal.

Jay Kelly follows Clooney as Jay, a famous movie actor, and Sandler as Ron, his loyal manager. The two set off on a whirlwind journey across Europe that turns unexpectedly emotional. Along the way, they’re forced to face their past choices, the people in their lives, and the legacies they’ll leave behind.
As Clooney’s character says in the teaser, “You know how difficult it is to be yourself? You try it.”
The cast is packed with star power, including Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Greta Gerwig, Alba Rohrwacher, Josh Hamilton, Lenny Henry, Emily Mortimer, Nicôle Lecky, Thaddea Graham, Isla Fisher, Louis Partridge, and Charlie Rowe.
The teaser gives a glimpse of Clooney as Jay, along with scenes featuring Sandler and Laura Dern, and highlights Jay’s relationship with his daughter, played by Grace Edwards.
Baumbach’s last few films for Netflix have earned critical acclaim, and Jay Kelly looks to continue that streak — mixing heart, humor, and emotional depth in a story about identity and reflection.
As the trailer hints, Jay Kelly may be a star to the world, but he’s still figuring out who he really is.
Jay Kelly hits select theaters on November 14 and starts streaming on Netflix December 5.
