Production has officially begun on the HBO Original Harry Potter television series. Filming is underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK. The series is set to premiere in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max, including in upcoming launch markets like Germany, Italy, and the UK.

The HBO Original Harry Potter Series will be a faithful adaptation of the original Harry Potter books by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling. “Each season will bring Harry Potter to new and existing audiences,” the studio stated. The original films will remain available for streaming worldwide.

New cast members announced include Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.

They join previously revealed cast: Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Katherine Parkinson will play Molly Weasley, while Lox Pratt takes on Draco Malfoy and Johnny Flynn appears as Lucius Malfoy. Additional students include Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown. Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby will play Petunia and Vernon Dursley, and Bertie Carvel will portray Cornelius Fudge.

Behind the camera, a skilled creative team has been assembled. Adriano Goldman is Director of Photography. Cate Hall serves as Hair and Makeup Designer, Paul Herbert is Stunt Coordinator, and Mark Holt is SFX Supervisor. Mara LePere-Schloop leads as Production Designer, with Naomi Moore as Set Decorator. John Nolan heads Creature Effects Design, Alexis Wajsbrot is VFX Supervisor, and Dom Sidoli is VFX Producer. Holly Waddington was previously announced as Costume Designer.

The series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner. Mark Mylod will direct several episodes and serve as executive producer. Additional executive producers include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, along with David Heyman of Heyday Films.
