Global pop star Ariana Grande trended online after shares of Instagram stories about the Pasiglaban Para sa Tropa: Pasig City People’s Rally of Vice President Leni Robredo and its crowd singing the song, Break Free, on March 21, 2022.

On the Instagram story, Grande’s Break Free was sung by the massive 130,000-strong crowd in support of Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan. The two are in the running for president and vice president of the Philippines, respectively, in the upcoming 2022 national elections.

In the first story, Twitter user @marthawilsona’s panning shot of the rally’s pink crowd singing the icon’s hit single, Break Free, can be seen, which Grande captioned with “I could not believe this was real”, and “I love you more than words”.

The certified triple-platinum song was performed onstage by drag queens led by drag performer Minty Fresh, who also impersonated Grande from head to toe with an all-pink look.

The Billboard record-breaker also shared a clip by Twitter user @haarvzxc showing the same scene in the rally but taken in the crowd itself, depicting the thousands in attendance dancing along and shouting the lyrics to the song.

The clips’ owners were quick to express their disbelief of the situation, with @marthawilsona tweeting, “MISS ARIANA POSTED MY VID ON HER IG STORY?/!/?/?/ im shaking”. @haarvzxc also shared, “NI REPOST NI ARI YUNG VIDEO KOOOO SHET MY ARI HEAAARRTTTT!!!!! 🥺💖”.

The Pasig event, the most recent of a slew of nationwide campaign rallies by volunteer group Team Leni Robredo, also saw local artists perform, including OPM hitmakers Ben&Ben, Autotelic, Itchyworms, Ebe Dancel and Noel Cabangon, and actors Robi Domingo, Melai Cantiveros, and Jolina Magdangal.

Grande is the second international songstress to show support for Leni Robredo’s campaign. In February, legendary singer Cher backed the presidential candidate after her Filipino followers campaigning for Robredo flocked to a tweet of hers that read, “IF YOU WANT IT DONE RIGHT….LET A WOMAN DO IT💄💪🏻🎓💪🏽👑💪🏾💃🏽👠‼️”
