Multi-awarded English singer and songwriter Adele has officially released “Easy on Me,” the lead single of her fourth album titled “30,” which will come out Nov. 19, according to her tweet posted Wednesday. The new album is her first in six years.

Adele’s YouTube channel posted Friday the song’s official music video, garnering 23 million views at the time of writing. Prior to its release, Adele previously posted on social media teasers of the new single. The singer shared on her official Instagram account a glimpse of the music video, with more than 18 million views as of Friday.

As expected, “Easy on Me” features heartwrenching lyrics, just like some of the past songs sung and written by Adele. The chanteuse has gotten married in 2018 and divorced in 2021 from Simon Konecki.

EASY ON ME

There ain't no gold in this river
That I've been washing my hands in forever
I know there is hope in these waters
But I can't bring myself to swim
When I am drowning in this silence
Baby, let me in

Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
Didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
I had no time to choose what I chose to do
So go easy on me

There ain't no room for things to change
When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways
You can't deny how hard I have tried
I changed who I was to put you both first
But now I give up

Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
Didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
Had no time to choose what I chose to do
So go easy on me

I had good intentions
And the highest hopes
But I know right now
It probably doesn't even show

Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
I didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
I had no time to choose what I chose to do
So go easy on me

Adele’s confirmation of the new album, meanwhile, comes with a lengthy note. “I was certainly nowhere near where I’d hoped to be when I first started it nearly 3 years ago. Quite the opposite actually. I rely on routine and consistency to feel safe. I always have. And yet there I was knowingly – willingly even, throwing myself into a maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil!” she wrote.

“30” is a follow-on to the release of her blockbuster “25” album. It was the best single-week album sales ever since Nielsen began monitoring point-of-sales music in 1991. The album sold more than three million copies during its debut week.

“I’ve learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way. I’ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones. Discovered genuinely useful and wholesome mentalities to lead with, and I feel like I’ve finally found my feeling again. I’d go as far as to say that I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life,” Adele added to her note.
