MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University Center for the Arts and the FEU Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS) in partnership with the soon-to-open Embassy of Croatia in Manila, will host a cultural concert titled “Echoes of Croatia in the Philippines” on October 14 at 3:00 PM at the FEU Auditorium.

The event features Chriztel Renae Aceveda, a 14-year-old Filipina soprano and winner of Croatia’s Got Talent 2023. Originally from Pampanga, Aceveda has lived in Croatia since 2020 and has gained national recognition for her emotional renditions of traditional Međimurje folk songs.

Aceveda began singing at age five and is now a student at Primary School Sveti Martin na Muri. She is also a member of the local cultural society HKUU Sveti Martin and studies voice at the Varaždin Music School under the guidance of Croatian mezzo-soprano Blanka Tkalčić. Her performances have drawn comparisons to the legendary Croatian folk artist known as “Aunt Liza.”

Joining Aceveda on stage is Blanka Tkalčić, an accomplished vocalist and educator. A graduate of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Tkalčić has performed across Europe, appearing with major orchestras including the Zagreb Philharmonic and the Paris Chamber Orchestra. She is also a voice teacher at the Varaždin Music School and works with Opera BB in Zagreb.

Completing the lineup is Danijel Oto, a pianist, chamber musician, and educator. A graduate of the Zagreb Music Academy, Oto has performed in major cities such as Vienna, Paris, Rome, and Zurich. He currently teaches at the Varaždin School of Music and serves as an assistant professor at University North. His students have earned more than 200 awards in local and international competitions.
