Disney’s Lilo & Stitch has officially passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, becoming the first Motion Picture Association (MPA) title of 2025 to hit the milestone. The film has earned $416.2 million domestically and $584.8 million internationally, making it the #1 MPA release of the year both globally and internationally.

Lilo & Stitch Become Billionaires

This marks the fourth Disney film in the last 13 months to cross the billion-dollar mark. Other titles include Moana 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Inside Out 2.

“We knew there was a lot of love for ‘Lilo & Stitch’ with audiences around the world, yet we never take that for granted, and we’re proud of how this new film has connected with people,” said Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman. “I’m thankful to our filmmakers, our cast, and all on our Studio team who have made this film such a success, and we look forward to more adventures with these characters ahead.”

Lilo & Stitch had a record-breaking domestic opening on May 23, earning $183 million in just four days—the biggest Memorial Day weekend debut in history. It is also one of only two films this year to surpass $400 million at the U.S. box office.

Internationally, the film is the top MPA release of 2025 so far. It’s now Disney’s highest-grossing live-action film ever in Mexico and the top-grossing film of the year in key markets across Europe (France, Italy, Spain) and Latin America (Brazil, Mexico), as well as several smaller regions.

The film is currently playing in theaters worldwide, and a sequel is already in development. Its success has also sparked renewed interest in the franchise, with the original animated Lilo & Stitch and related content racking up more than 640 million viewing hours on Disney+ globally.
