Sony Music Group (SMG) has announced the launch of the 2025–2026 Global Scholars Program, inviting students from around the world to apply. This scholarship program offers financial aid and enrichment opportunities to students pursuing degrees in music and music-related fields at accredited colleges and universities.

The program supports students studying a wide range of disciplines, including performance, production, composition, and music technology. Scholarship recipients will receive annual financial support throughout their degree program or until completion, whichever comes first, depending on financial need and region.

Over the past four years, SMG has funded 50 students from 18 different regions. In July 2024, these scholars attended a four-day conference at Sony Music’s New York headquarters. The event featured curated sessions and enrichment programs, offering students the chance to learn directly from SMG professionals. Through interactive workshops and panel discussions, they engaged with producers, songwriters, and engineers across the company.

Today, 98% of SMG-funded scholars are on track to finish their music-specific degree programs by Spring 2026. Several students have already graduated as of May 2025.

“Music education doesn’t just shape artists, it empowers creators, innovators, and leaders who will define the future of our industry,” said Towalame Austin, Executive Vice President, Global Philanthropy, Social Impact and Environment, Sony Music Group. “Through Sony Music Group’s Global Scholars Program, we’re proud to invest in education and the next generation of voices and visionaries and future music leaders from around the world where Sony Music Group is doing business.”

Applications for the 2025–2026 cycle are now open. Eligible students must be planning to enroll full-time in an accredited college or university program in music or music business-related fields during the current academic year. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 8.

The Institute of International Education (IIE), a global non-profit, manages the application process and provides evaluation services.
