The deadly games are far from over. Netflix has revealed the trailer for Squid Game Season 3, the final chapter of the global phenomenon, and series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk promises a darker, more emotional end to the story. Set to premiere June 27, the new season continues directly from the bloody finale of Season 2 — and it’s clear that Gi-hun’s battle is just beginning.

“The fierce clash between [Gi-hun and Front Man’s] two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3,” Hwang said during Netflix’s Tudum 2025 fan event in Los Angeles. “Prepare to see familiar foes, new games, and higher stakes than ever in Squid Game Season 3.”

Squid Game Season 3

The newly released trailer shows Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), known as Player 456, spiraling after his failed attempt to shut down the Game. Wracked with guilt and grief after the death of his friend Jung-bae and the betrayal by the Front Man — revealed to be In-ho — Gi-hun is more broken than ever. In the trailer, he screams at the guards, “Why didn’t you kill me? Why did you keep me alive? Why did you let me live?” before being pinned to the ground as the Front Man silently watches.

Hwang explained the emotional weight this season will carry: “The new season will focus on what Gi-hun can and will do after all his efforts fail.” He added, “He is in utter despair after losing everything and watching all his efforts go in vain. The story then takes an interesting turn, questioning whether Gi-hun can overcome his shame and rise again to prove that values of humanity — like conscience and kindness — can exist in the arena.”

The trailer also teases new twists and intense confrontations, all set against the same eerie, high-stakes backdrop that made Squid Game a global hit in 2021. As Netflix’s most-watched non-English series of all time, the pressure to deliver a powerful ending is immense — and Hwang seems ready to deliver.

The Tudum event brought energy and spectacle to the reveal, with the show’s iconic pink guards storming the stage in a dramatic dance performance, followed by a live set from Indian rapper Hanumankind. Cast members Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun (Front Man), Park Sung-hoon, Kang Ae-sim, and Choi Seung-hyun (T.O.P) then took the stage to introduce the official trailer and confirm the long-awaited premiere date.
