A24 is set to release The Moment, a mockumentary led by Charli XCX that blends satire, celebrity culture, and the pressures of pop stardom. The film, directed by Aidan Zamiri and written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, is described as “based on an original idea by Charli XCX.” It arrives nationwide on January 30, 2026, with a 103-minute runtime and an R rating.
The project follows a rising pop star preparing for her first arena tour while struggling with the machinery of fame. A teaser released November 20 offers a first look, shot during Charli’s real tour dates. In the footage, she appears as an exaggerated version of herself—intent on shaping the “brat” movement that surrounded her last album. “Nothing is more important than Brat,” she declares. The teaser briefly cuts to silence before a mannequin drops from above and shatters on the floor. “Is that supposed to be me?” she asks.

The cast brings together actors, comedians, and cultural figures from across entertainment. Kylie Jenner makes a quick appearance performing the “Apple” dance. Rachel Sennott is seen insisting a clip be removed, while Hailey Benton Gates cautions that something is “a fucking disaster.” The ensemble also includes Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Trew Mullen, Isaac Powell, Rish Shah, Alexander Skarsgård, Michael Workéyé and Mel Ottenberg. A.G. Cook provides the score, with cinematography by Sean Price Williams and production design from Francesca Di Mottola.
In comments to Vanity Fair, the film was described as “a revisionist history focused on the aftermath of ‘Brat’s’ release in which she stars with Alexander Skarsgård.” Charli called it a “2024 period piece,” adding, “It’s not a tour documentary or a concert film in any way, but the seed of the idea was conceived from this idea of being pressured to make one. It’s fiction, but it’s the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever seen.”
The concept originated in 2024, when Charli was touring with Troye Sivan and developing the “Brat” tour. Zamiri recalled that her early message outlining the idea “almost felt like a diary entry of, ‘This is how I feel right now.’”
The Moment opens in theaters January 30, 2026.
