The Cultural Center of the Philippines is bringing its annual arts camp, Kutitap: Isang Piging ng Kabataang Makasining, to Baguio City from November 18 to 22, 2025. The program marks both the 2025 National Children’s Month and National Indigenous Peoples’ Month, led by the CCP Cultural Exchange Department.
Fifty-five children and their adult leaders from cultural communities nationwide will spend the week immersed in arts, culture, and shared traditions. Now in its 16th year, Kutitap remains committed to instilling “a deep sense of understanding, appreciation, and pride for Philippine indigenous arts and culture,” while strengthening creativity and positive social values among the youth.
Throughout the week, participants will take part in mini-workshops and showcases in dance, drama, music, rituals, and visual arts. The camp also features storytelling, crafting, traditional games, film viewing, discussions, and collaborative projects. Each activity is designed to help children experience indigenous life, practices, and values such as good health, love, compassion, and perseverance.
Since its first gathering in 2009, Kutitap has reached more than 3,334 children from 200 local communities. The program has evolved through the years—reshaped in 2011 for Northern Luzon children affected by typhoons, brought to Batangas in 2015 for its first off-site edition, and later featured in the Children of Asia research project under the Asian Culture Institute in South Korea. In 2023, it became part of the Reclaim the Void art assemblage of the Aboriginal community in Western Australia.
Kutitap has traveled across the Philippines—Capiz in 2016, Tagum City in 2017, Los Baños in 2018, Koronadal City in 2019, virtual editions during the pandemic, CCP and Fo Guang Shan Mabuhay Temple in 2022, Agusan del Sur in 2023, and Himamaylan City in 2024.
For 2025, prominent filmmakers Milo Tolentino, Christian Candelaria, and Zig Dulay will share their films Andong, Sa Iyang Isla, and Black Rainbow. Storyteller Richard Vilar will present folktales, while Marichelle Santos will teach puni leaf folding. The official poster features artwork by Kublai Millan, designed by Jeruz Alcazarin.
This year’s participants come from 11 cultural communities across Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the NCR. The program is supported by St. Louis University–Baguio City, Baguio Central School, the Provincial Tourism Office, Baguio Country Club, and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
