Manila House Private Members Club will open the holiday season with purpose and celebration on December 1 as it hosts A Christmas Overture, a fundraising concert supporting HearLife-Verein. The event brings together a lineup of established and emerging musicians, all performing in support of hearing and speech rehabilitation programs for children with cochlear implants, as well as deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
The concert features vocalists Evangeline Ng Lao, Lucia Caterina J. Boschi, Tara Bahukhandi, Mavis Jane Tan, and Sherine Ann Koa, joined by Sharlene Morta, a pianist and MED-EL cochlear implant user. They will perform a program of Christmas pieces and orchestral works designed to highlight the event’s core message: sound as a bridge to connection and communication.

They will be accompanied by a group of experienced musicians, including violinist Mary Joyce San Juan, violist Lauro Valentino Cad, cellist Irvin Roie So, flutist Raymundo O. Sison, and international concert pianist Dr. Abelardo Galang II.
Proceeds from the evening will go to HearLife-Verein, a non-profit that provides assessments, cochlear implant support, therapy scholarships, rehabilitation services, and educational guidance. The organization works closely with families and medical professionals, advocating early intervention and access to appropriate hearing technologies.
In a statement, HearLife Founder and President Maribel Mueller underscored the impact of the organization’s work. “The holidays remind us that connection is at the heart of every celebration. HearLife helps restore connection in its purest form—through sound, communication, and the possibility of a fuller, richer life. For many of HearLife’s beneficiaries, this gift means the chance to hear a parent’s voice for the first time, to participate in school without barriers, or to finally feel connected in a world that had once been quiet,” she said.
Set within the intimate setting of Manila House, the event aims to offer more than a seasonal performance. Guests are invited to contribute to ongoing support for families and children navigating their hearing journey—one ticket and one performance at a time.
Tickets are Php 2,700 for Members and Php 3,000 for guests.
