Hamilton, one of Broadway’s most influential musicals—will soon make its way into school auditoriums. Concord Theatricals has acquired exclusive worldwide secondary stage licensing rights to the hit show and is developing a Hamilton Teen Edition set for release in 2028.
The move expands Concord’s existing partnership with Lin-Manuel Miranda, whose works In the Heights and 21 Chump Street are already part of the company’s catalog. With the new agreement, one of the most celebrated titles in modern musical theatre will become accessible to young performers for the first time.

Miranda welcomed the news, noting how formative school theatre was in his own life. “I am thrilled that Hamilton is joining In The Heights and 21 Chump Street as part of the Concord Theatricals family,” he said. “I fell in love with theatre not by seeing a lot of Broadway shows, but via my parents’ vinyl cast albums and participating in our high school’s annual musicals. I’m excited to see students take on these roles and to share this story from school stages in their communities. It’s only a matter of time.”
Concord Chief Theatricals Executive Sean Patrick Flahaven called the partnership both significant and personal. “We couldn’t be prouder to continue to represent Lin-Manuel’s work and to bring his astounding, game-changing show to educators and students worldwide,” he said. “His genius combination of history, politics, and dynamic music is unique and thrilling. And on a personal note, this is a full-circle moment, having had the honor to be involved in its development, production, and recording.”
Miranda announced the licensing news from the stage of Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre following the musical’s November 18 performance.
Hamilton, which blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and traditional Broadway sound, follows the life of Alexander Hamilton and reshaped American theatre after debuting Off-Broadway in 2014. Its Broadway cast album reached Diamond certification in 2023 and remains the only cast recording to top Billboard’s Rap Albums chart.
With the Teen Edition now underway, schools across the country may soon bring the groundbreaking musical to life—opening the doors for a new generation to tell the story.
