Shangri-La Plaza marked the start of the holiday season on November 15 with the lighting of its Grand Christmas Tree, presented through A Symphony of Sparkle, described as “the poignant musical narrative highlighting a season abounding with traditions of Songs & Splendor, Gatherings, Giving, and child-like Wonder.”

The ceremony unfolded like a short theatrical presentation rather than a simple lighting moment. Under musical director Farley Asuncion and arranger Rory Fortich, the program combined live orchestration, dance, narration, and multimedia. Each segment reflected familiar Filipino traditions, from caroling to the anticipation of Simbang Gabi.

A musical storytelling featuring the Philippine Madrigal Singers, the Manila String Machine, vocal powerhouses Johann Enriquez and Sheena Lee Palad, as well as captivating performances by the Speed Dancers and Ballet Manila, brought the needed Christmas sparkle to the evening.

Earlier that day, Gucci held a private preview of its Cruise 2026 Collection, paired with cocktails curated by Michelin Selected restaurant Juniper by Josh Boutwood, adding a note of luxury to the mall’s festivities.

This year, Shangri-La Plaza’s holiday décor draws on crystal accents and timeless ornaments arranged to appear suspended in air. At the center is a large floating Christmas tree framed in gold and green, creating what the mall describes as a “warm, multi-sensory experience filled with glowing lights, visual wonder, and an enchanting holiday charm.”

Seasonal activities continue with the Wishes & Wheels: Holiday Raffle Promo, which began November 15 and offers shoppers a chance to win 1 of 2 Hybrid Lexus LBX with a minimum single-receipt purchase of PHP 2,500.

December brings Christmas Ensembles: Weekend Showcases of Motion and Melody, featuring OB Montessori Greenhills on December 12, Ateneo Boys Choir on December 13, Studio Dance by Lina on December 14, St. Theresa’s College Quezon City on December 20, and the Mandaluyong Children’s Choir on December 21.

The Metro Manila Film Festival opens at the Red Carpet Cinema on December 25, followed by the Boxing Day Sale on December 26. The celebrations conclude with the Encore of Lights fireworks display on December 30 at 8 p.m., closing the season on a luminous note.
