Apple TV+ has renewed The Buccaneers for a third season. The popular drama, produced by The Forge and inspired by Edith Wharton’s final, unfinished novel, has earned critical praise since its premiere.
Hailed as a “lavish period drama that feels fresh and modern” and a “frothy, feminist romp,” the series features a “powerful ensemble cast” that brings Wharton’s world to life with a fast-paced and emotionally rich narrative.

Season one introduced viewers to a group of fun-loving American girls who burst into 1870s London high society, sparking an Anglo-American culture clash. In season two, the women faced heartbreak, motherhood, jealousy, and even the weight of the English legal system.
Now, season three picks up with the Buccaneers pushing back — and doing it together. No longer chasing first loves, they’re seeking something deeper. And as a new, enigmatic Duke arrives at Tintagel, change is on the horizon. “If polite English society thought these American girls rocked the boat, this new bad-boy Duke is about to sink the ship,” the release teases.
Series creator Katherine Jakeways shared her excitement for the next chapter.
“We couldn’t be more delighted to be lacing up our corsets, slipping on our ball gowns and running breathless across the cliffs of Tintagel for the third time to see what passionate adventures our beloved Buccaneers get up to next,” she said. “Huge thanks to Apple TV+ and also to the devoted viewers for loving the show as much as we do.”
Season two starred Kristine Frøseth, Alisha Boe, Aubri Ibrag, Josie Totah, Imogen Waterhouse, Mia Threapleton, Christina Hendricks, Leighton Meester, Grace Ambrose, Maria Almeida, Amelia Bullmore, Fenella Woolgar, Guy Remmers, Matthew Broome, Josh Dylan, Barney Fishwick, Greg Wise, and Jacob Ifan.
Jakeways returns as writer and executive producer alongside Emmy winner Beth Willis, with Joe Innes joining as an executive producer for season three. The Buccaneers is produced by The Forge Entertainment, a Banijay UK company.
