DC Studios’ box-office-blasting film SUPERMAN is set to make its global streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max this Friday, September 19. The film will also air on HBO’s linear channel on the following day at 8:00 p.m. ET.

To mark the release, HBO Max is launching a SUPERMAN-themed platform experience. Subscribers will see a revamped interface, including:

  • A Fortress of Solitude page with curated content for fans
  • Hidden portals leading to Lex Luthor’s Pocket Prison
  • A fully reimagined Daily Planet homepage with fresh visuals and featured content rails

At the center of the film is director James Gunn’s new vision for Superman—blending large-scale action with humor and emotional depth. The result, HBO Max says, is a Superman “driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.”

The film stars David Corenswet (“Twisters,” “Hollywood”) as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men,” “Juror #2”) as Lex Luthor.

The ensemble cast also includes Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell.

SUPERMAN is written and directed by Gunn, and produced by DC Studios co-heads Peter Safran and Gunn. Executive producers include Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars Winther. The film is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

HBO Max continues to bolster its lineup with blockbuster hits and fan-favorite franchises, including “A Minecraft Movie,” “Sinners,” “It,” “The Conjuring,” and “Final Destination.”
