Man’s Best Friend includes the certified platinum lead single “Manchild,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is Carpenter’s second No. 1 single, following “Please Please Please.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The ‘Espresso’ singer is back to take her summer song crown for the second year in a row with her infectiously catchy new single.” Rolling Stone wrote, “Carpenter radiates in feel-good disco energy.” The video for “Manchild” has reached nearly 60 million views.

The new album follows Short n’ Sweet, released in August 2024. That album topped charts worldwide and sold 10 million copies globally. Its three singles—“Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste”—each surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

Short n’ Sweet earned Carpenter six GRAMMY® nominations. She won two awards: Best Pop Vocal Album for Short n’ Sweet and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso.” A deluxe version of the album featured five additional tracks, including a duet with Dolly Parton and “Busy Woman,” which Carpenter performed during her sold-out arena tour.

Carpenter became the first female artist to hold the top three spots on the UK Singles Chart with “Taste,” “Please Please Please,” and “Espresso.” She also set a record for most weeks at No. 1 in a single year by a female artist in the UK and received the BRITs’ Global Success award.

She will return to the MTV Video Music Awards next week with eight nominations, including Video of the Year for “Manchild.”

In October, Carpenter begins the second sold-out North American leg of her Short n’ Sweet Tour, concluding in Los Angeles on November 23.
