Florence + the Machine are set to return with their sixth studio album, Everybody Scream, dropping on October 31. The title track arrives alongside a haunting video directed by longtime collaborator Autumn de Wilde.

The album was written and produced over the past two years by Florence Welch, working closely with a tight circle of creative partners. Among them are Mark Bowen of IDLES—who also appears in the video—along with Aaron Dessner and Mitski. It’s a small but potent team behind what promises to be one of Welch’s most personal works yet.

The project was shaped in the aftermath of Welch’s lifesaving surgery during the Dance Fever tour. Her recovery wasn’t just physical—it cracked open a door to spiritual mysticism, witchcraft, and folk horror. Through that lens, she began to reckon with the limits of her own body and the deeper, stranger layers of healing. The result is an album that journeys through womanhood, partnership, aging, and death, all while exposing, as Welch puts it, “the murky in the mundane.”

Since her debut, Florence Welch has forged a singular path through modern music. Across five albums—Lungs (2009), Ceremonials (2011), How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (2015), High As Hope (2018), and Dance Fever (2022)—she’s built a legacy that’s both theatrical and emotionally raw. Her work has earned multiple U.S. and U.K. No. 1 albums, a steady stream of awards, and the kind of devoted fan base most artists only dream of.

Welch is also known for her electrifying live shows—earth-shaking, barefoot, and mythic. She’s sold out arenas and headlined major festivals worldwide, sharing stages with legends like The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift. Her 2018 book, Useless Magic, offers an intimate look into her inner world, filled with lyrics, poetry, and sketches.

With Everybody Scream, Florence + the Machine lean into the shadows, returning with a record shaped by transformation, survival, and the strange beauty of the unknown.
