Filipino indie rock collective DILAW unveils Black and White, a soulful and introspective new single produced by Shadiel Chan, taken from their forthcoming album RARARA, out September 5. The track showcases the band’s evolving sound—melodic, emotional, and lyrically rich.

Written by Vie Delarosa and Dilaw Obero, Black and White captures how love can transform even the dullest moments into something cinematic. The opening line sets the mood with stark clarity:
“Ang buhay ko ay parang lumang TV na walang cable”
(My life is like an old TV with no cable)—a raw image of monotony and emotional static.
That grayscale quickly turns vibrant as the chorus hits:
“Hay, ‘di ka nakakaumay / Nagbibigay ng kulay / Sa mundo kong black and white”
(Oh, I never get tired of you / You bring color / To my world that’s black and white).
It’s a line that lands like a soft punch to the heart—direct, catchy, and deeply relatable.
Vocalist Rreyo Obero delivers the lyrics with a warm, textured tone, supported by Leon Altomonte and Vie Delarosa on guitars, Wayne Dela Rosa on bass, En Altomonte on keys, and Tobi Samson on drums. Together, the band crafts a laid-back yet emotionally charged atmosphere.
The second verse deepens the emotional pull:
“Ang bawat oras na lumipas na ‘di ka kapiling / Parang bagyo himpapawid, bigla na lang dumidilim”
(Every hour that passes without you / Feels like a storm in the sky, it suddenly darkens).
It’s a poetic expression of longing, delivered with unfiltered honesty.
The single was mastered by Jan Aries Agadier Fuertez, adding final polish to an already immersive track.
Visually, the music video—presented by Lunchbox and directed by Raliug—mirrors the track’s transformation from grayscale to color. The production team, led by Sean Ezekiel Abela and Director of Photography Andrew Kyle Aquino, captures the song’s emotional arc with cinematic flair.
With Black and White, DILAW continues to carve out their space as a genre-blending indie rock collective—emotionally resonant, sonically grounded, and unmistakably their own.
