Jeremy Erlich, former global head of music at Spotify, has officially unveiled his next venture: Alta Music Group, a new independent music company based in Los Angeles. The full-service firm will operate across recorded music, publishing, and artist management.
Marking a high-profile debut, Alta’s first management client is Blackpink’s Jennie. The global pop star, who dropped her solo project Ruby via Columbia Records earlier this year, joins Alta under a co-management deal with her own company, OddAtelier.

“Throughout my career I’ve focused on the best way to service artists around the world that would create an environment that sets them up for long-term, global success,” said Erlich in a statement. “With ALTA we have the opportunity to do just that — a best in class team focused solely on supporting our artists and the music they create. Everything else does not matter.”
The company has secured strategic partnerships with Sony-owned The Orchard for global distribution and label services, and with THEBLACKLABEL — the boutique label founded by longtime Blackpink producer Teddy Park — in a development and promotion agreement.
Erlich, who exited Spotify in October 2023, joined the streaming giant in 2019 as VP and head of music strategy before being elevated to global head of music in 2021. His industry roots run deep, with previous roles at Universal Music Group and Interscope Geffen A\&M. During his time at Interscope, he helped forge the label’s global partnership with YG, which brought Blackpink into the U.S. market.
Alta launches with a leadership team that includes general manager Nima Khalilian (formerly with Stem and Interscope), along with Parker Ulry, Drake Hofer, Elise Eriksen, Gillian Taugher, and Michael Seltzer.
“ALTA is about putting artists first and helping them navigate an ever-evolving industry with a clear strategy,” Khalilian said.
The company’s initial roster features singer-songwriter Cat Matthews, New York alt-rap group WHATMORE, and rapper Bodhi Bleu.
“Their artist-first philosophy aligns with The Orchard’s mission to empower creators,” said The Orchard CEO Brad Navin. “We are proud to partner with ALTA.”
