Netflix has announced that its upcoming romantic comedy “Too Much” will premiere on July 10. The streaming platform also released a first set of images from the series, featuring an impressive cast that includes Meg Stalter, Will Sharpe, Michael Zegen, Janicza Bravo, Richard E. Grant, Rita Wilson, Naomi Watts, Andrew Rannells, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski, and Adwoa Aboah.
Created by Lena Dunham and Luis Felber, “Too Much” follows Jessica, a hard-working New Yorker in her mid-thirties played by Meg Stalter. Reeling from a painful breakup and slowly pushing away those closest to her, Jessica decides to escape to London. Her plan is to embrace solitude, but everything changes when she meets Felix, portrayed by Will Sharpe. Felix is charming but complicated—what some might call a walking red flag. Despite their differences, a messy and magnetic connection forms between them.
As their relationship unfolds, the series asks: can two people from opposite sides of the Atlantic really understand each other? Blending humor and heart, “Too Much” is a fresh take on love, disillusionment, and the search for connection in a globalized world.
Lena Dunham serves as writer and director, as well as executive producer alongside Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Michael P. Cohen, Surian Fletcher-Jones, and Bruce Eric Kaplan. Camilla Bray produces. The series is a collaboration between Working Title Television and Good Thing Going Production, under Universal International Studios.
“Too Much” is positioned as a rom-com for those who have been hurt before but still believe—just maybe—in the possibility of love.
