The cast & crew of “This Is Us” mourns the passing of one of their own – Jas Waters who worked as a staff writer for the NBC hit series and wrote a total of 18 episodes between 2017 and 2018. She was 39.

On Wednesday, news of Waters’ death was confirmed and announced on the Twitter page by the show’s writers: “The entire #ThisIsUs family was devastated to learn of Jas Waters passing. In our time together, Jas left her mark on us and ALL over the show. She was a brilliant storyteller and a force of nature. We send our deepest sympathies to her loved ones. She was one of us. RIP @JasFly.”

Shortly after the announcement, the cast and crew tweeted their condolences and mourned the loss of a dear colleague.

Mandy Moore who plays Rebecca, sends love and light to Waters’ family and loved ones.

Chrissy Metz who plays Kate, describes Waters as fantastic writer who was fearless, inspiring, and has a beautiful and lovable spirit.

Beth, played by Susan Kelechi Watson expressed her shock and sadness upon hearing the news.

“This is Us” show creator, Dan Fogelman said that Waters’ death breaks his heart especially for people who love her.
