Filipino hip-hop artist Guddhist Gunatita released a new single titled “PALABAS” featuring Mhot. The collab track is written and performed by both artists, with beat production by ACK and mixing and mastering by Brian Luna.
The music video for PALABAS is directed by Shot By Malcolm, with photography by Jhayar Dresta and production assistance from BigPlaya Phaze.
The title PALABAS translates as “show” or “performance” in English. The song explores the varied missions individuals undertake when choosing their life paths. As the artists say:
“Iba’t ibang misyon sa pagpili ng landas, kanya kanyang direksyon sa sariling palabas.”
(“Different missions in choosing a path, each with their own direction in their own show.”)
The lyrics emphasize self-strength and perseverance in the face of challenges:
“Patibayin ang sarili, pagkat ikaw ang siyang haligi
Sa tahanan na nakaabang sarong sarili
Walang masama sa paggalaw na patago
Gulatin mo lahat sila, lumabas ka ng malago
Sa mabuting paraan, suliranin palagan
Gamit ang ‘yong kamalayan, kahirapan kalagan.”
In English, these lines mean:
“Strengthen yourself, for you are the pillar
In a home where one’s self is waiting
There is nothing wrong in moving secretly
Surprise them all, emerge confidently
In a good way, face problems head-on
Using your awareness as a weapon against hardship and struggle.”
This single follows earlier 2025 releases by Guddhist Gunatita, including Panahon, Normal Lang, and Sulitin. He first gained recognition with his 2021 debut album, Metamorphosis.
Known for his positive and reflective lyrics, Guddhist has earned critical attention. In 2023, the Manila Bulletin wrote that he is “the rapper you’d like to bring home to your mother,” highlighting how fans praise his music for inspiring gratitude and redemption rather than profanity.
With PALABAS, Guddhist and Mhot continue to add to the evolving Filipino hip-hop scene, combining introspective storytelling with locally crafted production.
