Roald Dahl’s timeless tale of imagination and wonder is coming to the Philippine stage for the first time. CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY will make its sweet Manila debut at The Theatre at Solaire from July 8 to July 26, 2026, bringing the beloved story to life in a large-scale musical production.
The show is presented by Broadway International Group and Broadway Asia, in association with HY Culture Fund, Doug Meyer Productions, AMA Group, GMG Productions, UnionBank of the Philippines, Bergamot Front Row Fund, and Willette Klausner. GMG Productions serves as Manila General Manager.
The Manila run follows the Beijing stop of the international tour and a sold-out engagement at Shanghai Culture Square in November 2025, where the production received enthusiastic audience response. The global tour will continue to visit major cities across Asia, the Middle East, and India, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Hainan, Taipei, and Seoul.
Based on Roald Dahl’s globally beloved novel, the musical follows Charlie Bucket and his life-changing golden-ticket journey into Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory. Audiences are immersed in a world of chocolate rivers, nut-sorting squirrels, mischievous Oompa-Loompas, and bold theatrical spectacle.

The production features classic songs from the 1971 film, including “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man,” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” alongside original music by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.
Producers Simone Genatt and Marc Routh said, “Roald Dahl’s CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY is a dazzling fantasy for everyone from everywhere. This new production features miraculous special effects and cutting edge hologauze 3D technology based on advanced magic principles.”
Illusion designer Tim Clothier added, “Willy Wonka is the king of imagination, and being able to design new stage wizardry for that character is a dream come true.”
Early ticket access will be available through UnionBank of the Philippines from January 12 to 15, 2026 via ticketworld.com.ph. GMG Productions will also offer a special waitlist for early seating access until January 14, 11:59 PM Philippine Time, ahead of general ticket sales on January 17, 2026.
Originally premiering in 2017, the musical ran for over 300 performances and later toured North America for four years. It also received two Olivier Awards during its London West End run.
With its global creative team, innovative stage technology, and enduring story, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY is set to become one of Manila’s most anticipated theatre events of 2026.
