Teejay Marquez just made it official with Sparkle, joining the GMA Network talent roster in a contract signing held Tuesday at the GMA boardroom. With him were GMA’s top brass, including Senior VP Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, Sparkle’s First VP Joy Marcelo, Senior Manager Jan Navarro, and ALV Talent Circuit CEO—and Teejay’s co-manager—Arnold Vegafria.
“First of all I would like to say how grateful I am kasi finally it’s happening. It’s been a long time coming talagang matagal ko nang pangarap ito since kay Kuya Germs pa ako noon,” Teejay said (It’s been a long time coming. This has been my dream since the time of Kuya Germs). He added, “Actually most of my works, dito po talaga sa GMA kaya ‘yung feeling ko finally I’m part of the home na. Matatawag ko talaga na pamilya ‘to” (Most of my work has really been with GMA, so I feel like I’m finally part of the home now. I can truly call this a family). He wrapped with: “Maraming salamat po sa GMA Network… I am looking forward to a brighter future. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat” (Thank you so much to GMA Network… I’m looking forward to a brighter future. Thank you all so much).

Not exactly a new face in the GMA universe, Teejay got his start on the late-night institution Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman, hosted by German “Kuya Germs” Moreno. Now, years later, he’s officially in the family.
“To be able na maka-sign ako sa Sparkle, sobrang nakakataba ng puso,” he told GMA News Online (To be able to sign with Sparkle really warms my heart). “Ang saya saya ko lang na finally, I’m part of [the] GMA family and mayroon akong matatawag na bahay, may makakasama, at may network na ‘ko” (I’m just so happy that finally, I’m part of the GMA family, I have a home, I have people to be with, and I have a network of my own).
His dream? To suit up for a fantaserye. “Gusto ko mag-costume,” he said. “Mahilig ako sa mga character na pwede akong—you know, imagination kung ano ‘yung character na ‘yon” (I want to wear costumes. I love characters where I can use my imagination about who they are).
And if superheroes or action-packed roles come his way? Even better. “Hopefully, makapag-superhero din ako o kaya mga action-packed,” he said. “Kahit ano namang ibigay, alam ko na I’ll do my best para ‘di sila mabigo” (Hopefully, I can play a superhero or do something action-packed. Whatever role they give me, I’ll do my best not to let them down).
You’ve seen him in Makiling, Mano Po Legacy: Her Big Boss, and Ben X Jim. With Sparkle behind him, Teejay’s next chapter is just getting started.
