Cher lit up Rome on July 12 as she opened Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda 2025 celebration with a dazzling performance. The 79-year-old icon took the stage at The Westin Excelsior in a series of bold outfits and head-turning hairstyles, proving once again that she’s not just a performer—she’s a spectacle.

She began her set wearing a platinum blonde wig styled in soft waves, a look reminiscent of her 2001 “Song for the Lonely” music video, which she also performed. Her outfit was just as eye-catching: a sparkly black corset over an army green jumpsuit.
Midway through the show, Cher returned to her signature long black hair and changed into a red corset bodice with flared black lace sleeves and a ruffled train. Her final look of the night was a sheer black, bejeweled catsuit that highlighted her ageless silhouette.
On Instagram, Cher shared two photos from the performance, simply captioned: “A little Rome moment.”
Dolce & Gabbana described the Alta Moda event as an “exclusive celebration of culture, music cinema, fashion and art,” featuring their couture lines: Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria, and Alta Gioielleria. The brand called Cher’s performance “one iconic track after another,” saying she “brought the venue to life and delighted guests.”
“A true icon of music, culture, and cinema, Cher took the stage with her legendary voice, adding a wave of emotion to an already unforgettable atmosphere,” Dolce & Gabbana said.
Fans flooded her Instagram with praise. One wrote, “As the world ages, Cher, sent to us by the gods, grows younger,” while another said, “You look beautiful Cher.”
The Rome event also launched the Secret Dolce Vita exhibition—featuring rare photographs capturing Italy’s 20th-century glamour—open to the public from July 13 to 17.
At 79, Cher remains unapologetically herself. “I just can’t believe I will be 80 at some point,” she said. “I will still be wearing my jeans, and I will still be wearing long hair.”
