TBA Studios is set to ignite the big screen once again with “Quezon”, a bold and gripping historical biopic centered on one of the most iconic figures in Philippine history—President Manuel L. Quezon. Following the massive success of “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral”, this latest addition to the “Bayaniverse” promises to deliver the studio’s most powerful and ambitious story yet.
“Quezon” traces the life of the Filipino lawyer and soldier who rose to become the President of the Commonwealth during the country’s turbulent journey toward independence. But rather than presenting Quezon as a one-dimensional hero, the film paints a more intimate, complex portrait of a man who was as cunning and charming as he was determined. Viewers will witness his fierce political rivalry with Emilio Aguinaldo, his passionate vision for a free Philippines, and the personal struggles that shaped his path as a leader.
Stepping into the shoes of Quezon is award-winning actor Jericho Rosales in a long-awaited return to the big screen. Rosales brings a raw energy and emotional depth to the role, promising a performance that captures both the strength and vulnerability of Quezon. Speaking about the character, Rosales shared, “I feel so honored to be with this team. Coming to a script like this which is so potent and so entertaining, I feel so lucky and happy. Here, you will see Quezon as a person. He’s not written as a hero. He is cunning, he is charming, he is intelligent. Quezon is such an interesting character to play; there are so many things I can put into the role to build Quezon as a character. That adds to the pressure, but at the same time I am very excited.”

Joining Rosales is Mon Confiado, who reprises his role as Emilio Aguinaldo, delivering the continuation of a long-standing political rivalry that’s already familiar to fans of the previous films. Benjamin Alves returns as a younger Quezon, and Karylle Yuzon portrays Quezon’s devoted wife, Aurora. The cast also includes Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, JC Santos as Manuel Roxas, and Cris Villanueva as Joven Hernando, the fictional journalist who has linked each film in the series.
In a major casting move, international actor Iain Glen—best known for his role as Jorah Mormont in “Game of Thrones”—joins the film as Leonard Wood, the American governor-general who played a key role in Quezon’s struggle for independence. His inclusion adds global appeal and raises the stakes for a production that already boasts one of the most impressive ensembles in recent Philippine cinema.
Although filming began earlier this year, TBA Studios has been careful to build anticipation steadily, focusing on assembling a world-class cast and crafting a story that stands on its own while expanding the cinematic world it helped pioneer. Director Jerrold Tarog, who also directed “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo”, returns to helm “Quezon”—bringing with him the same bold storytelling, cinematic scale, and emotional intensity that have defined his historical films.
TBA Studios has a proven track record of excellence. “Heneral Luna” broke box office records to become the highest-grossing historical film in the Philippines and was the country’s official submission to the 88th Academy Awards. With “Quezon”, the studio is once again pushing boundaries—not just with historical accuracy and production design, but with a story that feels relevant, urgent, and deeply moving.
Supported by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the Department of Tourism, and QCinema Film Foundation, “Quezon” is more than a film—it’s a cultural milestone. As the release draws closer, the buzz around it continues to grow, fueled by the strength of its story, the talent of its cast, and the bold vision behind its production.
“Quezon” is coming to cinemas in the Philippines and worldwide later this year. For fans of historical drama, powerful performances, and unforgettable storytelling, this is the film event not to miss.
