Tanghalang Ateneo (TA), the longest-running theater company of the Loyola Schools at Ateneo de Manila University, has announced a leadership change. Acclaimed director, actor, teacher, and theater producer Jenny Jamora is now its new Artistic Director, taking over from Guelan Luarca, who held the role for the past seven years.
In a statement, Tanghalang Ateneo expressed its gratitude to Luarca, who was praised for ushering in “many groundbreaking and relevant productions.” The group also shared excitement about Jamora’s leadership, saying, “With her artistry and expertise, we are confident that her leadership will bring forth an exciting new era for Tanghalang Ateneo.”

Jamora brings with her a strong background in both performance and direction. She recently directed Pingkian for Tanghalang Pilipino and Tiny Beautiful Things with The Sandbox Collective. Her work on Every Brilliant Thing earned her a Gawad Buhay Award for Outstanding Stage Direction in 2019. She is also currently rehearsing for In The Eyes of the People, a free adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People, produced by CAST PH and Mad Child Productions.
Jamora holds a degrees in Food Science and Technology from the University of the Philippines and Texas A&M University. She also trained in Acting Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London and is currently the Research and Policy Head of Aktor. Her appointment marks a new chapter for Tanghalang Ateneo, with the company poised to continue its legacy while exploring fresh artistic directions under her vision.
