“Superman,” the first theatrical release from DC Studios, is set to take flight in SM cinemas this July 9, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures. James Gunn brings his signature storytelling approach to the legendary hero in a reimagined DC universe—offering a unique mix of large-scale action, humor, and heartfelt emotion. The result is a Superman portrayed as a figure of empathy, guided by a deep faith in humanity’s inherent goodness.

The film is produced by DC Studios co-heads Peter Safran and James Gunn, with Gunn also serving as writer and director. The screenplay is based on DC characters, with Superman originally created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
David Corenswet (“Twisters,” “Hollywood”) leads the cast as Superman/Clark Kent, with Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) portraying Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (the “X-Men” series, “Juror #2”) taking on the role of Lex Luthor. The ensemble also includes Edi Gathegi (“For All Mankind”), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry,” “Gotham”), Nathan Fillion (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, “The Suicide Squad”), Isabela Merced (“Alien Romulus”), Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza,” “Booksmart”), Sara Sampaio (“At Midnight”), María Gabriela de Faría (“The Moodys”), Wendell Pierce (“Selma,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), Alan Tudyk (“Andor”), Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Bird Box”), and Neva Howell (“Greedy People”).
“Superman” is executive produced by Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars Winther. Behind the scenes, Gunn collaborates once again with longtime creative partners, including director of photography Henry Braham, production designer Beth Mickle, costume designer Judianna Makovsky, and composer John Murphy. The music team also features David Fleming (“The Last of Us”), with editing by William Hoy (“The Batman”) and Craig Alpert (“Deadpool 2,” “Blue Beetle”).
