Apple Original Films has released the first teaser for The Lost Bus, a powerful new thriller based on a true story of courage and survival. The film is set during one of the most devastating wildfires in American history and follows a tense rescue mission led by a bus driver and a schoolteacher fighting to save the lives of 22 children.
Directed by Academy Award nominee Paul Greengrass, The Lost Bus stars Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey as a wayward school bus driver, and Emmy and Golden Globe winner America Ferrera as a brave, determined teacher. Together, their characters must navigate a deadly inferno to keep their students alive.

The film is written by Greengrass and Brad Ingelsby and is inspired by Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire, a nonfiction book by journalist Lizzie Johnson. The story draws from real-life events that took place during the 2018 Camp Fire in California, which destroyed the town of Paradise and became the deadliest wildfire in the state’s history.
Producing the film are Brad Ingelsby, Gregory Goodman, Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions, and Jamie Lee Curtis for Comet Pictures. Lizzie Johnson also serves as an executive producer. Curtis became involved with the project after hearing Johnson speak about the book on NPR. Moved by the story, she brought it to Blumhouse, where she has a first-look production deal.
The film also features performances by Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, and Spencer Watson.
The Lost Bus is set to premiere in select theaters and on Apple TV+ in fall 2025. With its mix of high-stakes action and emotional depth, the film promises to be a gripping portrayal of resilience in the face of disaster.
