Kering and Balenciaga have announced the appointment of Pierpaolo Piccioli as Balenciaga’s new Creative Director, effective July 10, 2025.
Piccioli is known for his expertise in Haute Couture and a career marked by creative excellence. He will take over from Demna, who led the brand for the past decade with a bold and modern approach. Piccioli aims to continue Balenciaga’s legacy while bringing his own vision to the historic fashion house.
Francesca Bellettini, Kering Deputy CEO, praised Piccioli’s talent and craftsmanship, calling him the ideal choice to guide Balenciaga into its next chapter. She also thanked Demna for shaping the brand’s identity in recent years.

Balenciaga CEO Gianfranco Gianangeli expressed confidence in Piccioli’s ability to honor the brand’s heritage and creative spirit.
Piccioli acknowledged the contributions of those before him, including Demna, and said he looks forward to creating a new chapter for the brand. He emphasized the potential he sees in Balenciaga’s identity and history.
Piccioli’s first collection for Balenciaga will be presented in October 2025.
Balenciaga, founded in 1917 by Cristóbal Balenciaga, is known for redefining couture through innovation and craftsmanship. Today, it remains a leader in fashion through bold design, material exploration, and cultural relevance.
